Birmingham, Ala. – Florida was selected to represent the Southeastern Conference which together with the American Athletic Conference announced the SEC/AAC Women’s Basketball Challenge. The Gators will play UCF in the two-game event on December 30, 2015 held at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, site of the 2016 SEC Tournament.
“The SEC is pleased to partner with the American Athletic Conference to create a four-team event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, home of the 2016 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament,†SEC Assistant Commissioner Leslie Claybrook said. “This will be the first time for the state of Florida to host the conference’s women’s tournament and this event gives the SEC an opportunity to create two exciting non-conference games as well as get an early start in creating interest in the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament.â€

Mississippi State and South Florida square off in the other game of the challenge also to be played in Jacksonville on December 30.
Times, ticket and television information for the SEC/AAC Challenge will be released as it becomes available.
The game against the Knights completes Florida’s 2015-16 non-conference schedule.
