The Southeastern Conference portion of the University of Florida’s 2015-16 women’s basketball schedule was released by the league office Thursday evening.
Conference play will begin on Sunday, January 3 and run through Sunday, February 28, with the SEC Tournament being played Wednesday, March 2 through Sunday, March 6 at Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
Florida opens its SEC slate playing host to Mississippi State at 1 p.m. and the SEC Network will televise the game live.
The Skinny on the Schedule
- The 16-game regular-season schedule consists of a single round robin (10 games) and home and away with one permanent opponent (2 games) and two rotating opponents (4 games).
- The permanent opponents are Alabama-Auburn, Arkansas-Missouri, Florida-Georgia, Kentucky-South Carolina, LSU-Texas A&M, Ole Miss-Mississippi State, and Tennessee-Vanderbilt.
- In addition to playing Georgia twice this season, the 2015-16 Gators also will suit up for a pair of games against Auburn and LSU.
- The rotating opponents changes annually.
- Each team will play eight home games and eight away games.
- This marks the seventh year of the 16-game schedule for women’s basketball and the fourth with 14 teams.
Television Coverage Overview
- ESPN2 and ESPNU will produce a combined 13 conference contests and the SEC Network will televise more than 40 conference games.
- New for the 2015-16 season, the SEC Network will present two nights of whip-around coverage, a live look-in to every women’s basketball contest played on Thursday, January 7th and Thursday, February 25.
- There will also be a package of televised non-conference games which will be announced by each individual institution.
- Additionally, institutions will have the ability to produce conference and non-conference games not televised, for SEC Network +, exclusive games available on WatchESPN and SECSports.com.
- The SEC Network will televise the first three days of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament while the semifinals will be aired on ESPNU, and the championship game on ESPN.
- All of the games included in the ESPN package (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) and the SEC Network will be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
