The Gators compiled a combined 3.03 grade point average during the 2017 Spring semester, the University announced Monday.
The women’s hoops squad was one of 14 Gator teams that compiled a team GPA of at least 3.0 during the 2017 Spring semester that wrapped up at the end of April.
“I’m very proud of the work our players did in the classroom this semester,†new UF Head Coach Cameron Newbauer praised. “They deserve this recognition for remaining committed to being their best in their academic quest.â€
During the Spring semester senior Ronni Williams earned her bachelor’s degree, while redshirt senior Simone Westbrook who will return for the 2017-18 season, is expected to complete her final course requirements, as well.
Senior Tyshara Fleming is on pace to earn her bachelor’s degree in August 2017, as is junior Haley Lorenzen, who will enroll in master’s degree classes while she plays her final collegiate season in 2017-18. Junior Brooke Copeland set herself up to graduate in August, too, and made the decision to leave the sport and pursue community service adventures.
Newbauer is very committed to his team’s academic performance. His 2015-16 Belmont University team ranked sixth in the nation among all NCAA Division I teams with a combined 3.591 GPA, while the 2014-15 team posted a 3.501 GPA to rank No. 15 in the country, the 2013-14 squad racked up a team GPA of 3.433 to rank 18th nationally. The 2016-17 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll will be unveiled by the WBCA in August 2017.
