The Florida Gators and are teaming up with Quince Imaging to enhance Gator fans’ experience at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center with the installation of an innovative court projection system that will be used for a wide variety of athletic events.
Florida fans got a peek at court-projection technology during the pregame festivities at the men’s basketball team’s win vs. Kentucky last February. With the permanent installation of the equipment, court projection will now be a part of pregame introductions at many men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics events.
“We’re committed to bringing Florida fans and student-athletes a unique and exciting experience at our events, and this is another way we are delivering an experience unlike anything else in college sports,†UF athletic director Scott Stricklin said.
Quince Imaging, the frontrunner in the new wave of sports entertainment, utilizes 3D projection image mapping to bring sports venues to life in real time.
First in the industry to design a 3D imaging solution for sports arenas, Quince has installed more permanent sports imaging systems in North America than any other vendor, including venues such as Philips Arena, Prudential Center, Quicken Loans Arena, Wells Fargo Center and Chicago’s United Center.
Quince Imaging has collaborated with diverse clientele, spanning the broad spectrum of professional and university sports leagues and associations, affiliated with the NBA, NFL, MLB and NCAA.
However, UF’s Exactech Arena will be the first university-specific athletic venue to have Quince technology permanently installed.
“We are pleased to share this impressive milestone with our friends and colleagues at University of Florida, our longest-standing university client. Quince Imaging and UF have shared over a decade-long history of successful collaboration, partnering on major events such as the Gator Growl. As University system court-projection pioneers, we are thrilled to watch as UF paves the way to a new era in sports entertainment for University athletes and fans,†said Quince Imaging COO and Co-Founder, Scott Williams.
The new court projection will be debuted this September during volleyball season and will be ready for use throughout the 2017-18 athletic year and beyond.
