Zada Williams (pronounced ZAY-duh), a 6-foot-2 forward, has signed a Southeastern Conference Agreement to join the Gator basketball program, Head CoachCameron Newbauer announced Monday.
Williams spent the previous two seasons at the University of Miami, where she compiled 57 points and 47 rebounds, while she converted 55.8 percent (24-43) of her shots from the floor for the veteran-laden Hurricanes.
Williams, a native of Babson Park, Fla., will have two years of eligibility with the Gators beginning with the 2018-19 season.
Coach Cam on Zada
“Zada is a tough player. She provides much needed size and skill at the forward position for us. She embodies everything we want in the character and passion in our program. She has a skill set that compliments how we will play. Although she will have to sit out one year because of the NCAA transfer rules, Zada will make an immediate impact through her presence at practice, in the locker room and in the campus community.â€
Zada on becoming a Gator
“I’m excited to wear the Orange & Blue. I’m ready to put in the work and show the world what I’m capable of. I’m excited about competing in the SEC. I can’t wait to get on campus. Coach Cam is a ball of energy and you can’t help but get excited about being around that. He really seems to care about his players outside of basketball.â€
