Newbauer’s 2019-20 Gators welcome back seven letterwinners and feature five exciting newcomers. Key returners include point guard Kiki Smith, who led the team in assists and steals a season ago, and Zada Williams, who is one of two seniors on the squad and led the team in field goal percentage. For the first time since the 2008-09 campaign, the Gators will open their season with an exhibition as they host Valdosta State next Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. ET and admission is free.
After opening its regular season on the road at Grambling State on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Florida returns for a lengthy stretch of games in Gainesville. With a six-game homestand, Florida’s longest since the 2005-06 season, fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Gators early and often.
