Florida Basketball Signs Highest Ranked Recruit in Program History, Liv McGill

Head Coach Kelly Rae Finley has announced the signing of the highest-ranked recruit in Florida’s program history, Alivia “Liv” McGill. Hailing from Finley’s home state of Minnesota, McGill currently sits as the seventh-best women’s basketball recruit in the country (ProspectsNation).

The signing of McGill marks the second consecutive year that Coach Kelly Finley and the Gators have landed a five-star recruit. Liv will arrive as a freshman during the fall of 2024 and officially join the Gators for their 2024-25 campaign.

The 5’9 commit out of Minnesota is also ranked in the top 20 recruits by ESPN HoopGurlz, sitting at 16. McGill is a two-time Adidas All-American player and was selected for the 2023 USA Adidas Eurocamp this past summer playing in Treviso, Italy.

McGill has proven to be an asset at Hopkins High School in her last three seasons, averaging 14 points, three assists, and two steals per game. The top-ranked recruit has also played a large part in getting her high school team into consecutive state championship finals. In 2022 Liv McGill and Hopkins High School won the Class 4A state championship title, and more recently they were named the 4A runner-up in the 2023 Class 4A finals.

Coach Kelly Finley comments on the signing of Liv McGill,  “The day is finally here! A fierce competitor, passionate leader and electric player we are excited to welcome Liv and her family to Gator Nation! Having known Liv since 6th grade, it has been a joy to watch her develop both on and off the court. I truly believe that her best is yet to come and we are excited to be on this journey together.”
