For the inaugural 2023 Women’s ACC/SEC Challenge, Florida is set to play Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. This non-conference matchup will mark only the second time in history where the Gators will meet the Yellow Jackets.
The previous meeting between Florida and Georgia Tech dates back 37 years ago in December 1986. The Gators fell short by 10 in their first contest against the Yellow Jackets, recording an 82-72 loss. Aside from their singular matchup against Georgia Tech, the Gators have frequented ACC opponents over the years, most recently defeating the Clemson Tigers 73-63 in the WNIT tournament.
The ACC/SEC Challenge will take place over November 29-30 and feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network. Full coverage details, including platform designations and commentator information, will be announced later this fall.
ESPN Vice President of Programming, Nick Dawson comments on the ACC/SEC Basketball Challenge debut: “We look forward to showcasing the talented men’s and women’s programs throughout the ACC and SEC in the years ahead through this exciting new collaboration with both conferences … since establishing the very first interconference challenge in 1999, these events have been a staple of our college basketball schedule for more than two decades.”
