Florida Assistant Coach, Rhyne Howard has recently put her advice into motion on the Olympic stage in Belgium. After being named to the 2024 USA Olympic Qualifying Team earlier this month, Coach Howard went out and did what she did best, commanded the court.
On Sunday afternoon, Rhyne Howard led team USA in scoring with 25—points as they faced Senegal for their third and final contest of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Coming off the bench for team USA, Rhyne Howard was able to drop 25 points in just 15 minutes, and she did it, as always, with a smile.
Also smiling was USA head coach Cheryl Reeve as she commented, “obviously Rhyne was really impactful in her 15 minutes with 25 points. That’s just nuts. Really happy for her. Players are learning that this could be their situation. If they’re on the team, you know that you may not see steady, consistent minutes. You got to be ready at the drop of a hat if you go in, and Rhyne did that for us. That was fun to watch.”
Coach Howard’s 25-point outing closed out the American’s three game run in Belgium. Team USA remained undefeated during the qualifying tournament and took large strides in building what the world will see on full display this summer in Paris.
The final results are below:
- Feb. 8: Team USA 81, Belgium 79
- Feb. 9: Team USA 100, Nigeria 46
- Feb. 11: Team USA 101, Senegal 39
