The 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s Americup trial invitations have been released, and Florida signees Me’Arah O’Neal and Liv McGill are among the 26 athletes expected to participate.
National Team trials will start on May, 15 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The 26 athletes invited to the trials were selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee, chaired by DePaul University women’s basketball head coach Doug Bruno.
Following trials, 12 athletes will be selected and named to the official team roster. The 12-athlete team will then reconvene in Colorado Springs for training camp on June 8 before heading to Bucaramanga, Colombia to compete.
The 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup is scheduled for June 17-23 and will include eight teams from across the world. FIBA recently drew the selections, placing the USA team in Group B alongside Brazil, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The USA team is set to first tip-off against Brazil on Jun. 17.
Leading the 2024 U18 squad will be Teri Moren (Indiana University), who will be assisted by Niele Ivey (University of Notre Dame) and Jose Fernandez (University of South Florida).
